The National Arts Festival (NAF) 2024 marks 50 years of the NAF providing diversified art content and delighting audiences in South Africa.
It will be held from 20 to 30 June in Makhanda in the Eastern Cape and is supported by the Eastern Cape Provincial Government, Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and long-time private sponsor, Standard Bank.
MDDA opens call for community media grant applications

The Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) invites community media platforms to submit grant funding applications before 28 June 2024.
Encouraged and invited to apply are media projects with a valid Class Broadcast Service Licence, including radio, TV, and community print publications, as well as small commercial print publications.
Voters prove that our democracy is strong and robust
We have just held a successful general election and over 16 million citizens cast their votes at more than 23,000 voting stations across the country.
This was the most competitive election we have held since attaining democracy in 1994, with a record number of political parties on the ballot and independent candidates standing for the first time.
Plans underway for the seventh democratic Parliament
Following the successful 2024 National and Provincial Elections held recently, plans for the establishment of the country’s seventh democratic Parliament will now get into full swing.
Explaining the next step after the elections concluded, Parliamentary spokesperson, Moloto Mothapo, said Parliament is fully prepared, and all the necessary arrangements have been made for establishing the new National Assembly.
“Comprehensive plans are in place to ensure a seamless transition, including onboarding new Members of Parliament,” Mothapo said in a statement.
Young entrepreneur developing excellence in animal health
Zimasa Sammy Qwayede (27) of Mount Ayliff in the Eastern Cape is assisting farmers in rural communities to take care of animal health through her company ANIMEDS Primary Animal Healthcare Pty Ltd.
She started her business in 2020 after obtaining her Diploma in Animal Health at Tsolo Agriculture and Rural Development Institute.
