Learners who did not meet the requirements to pass the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or wish to improve their results can register for the Department of Basic Education's Second Chance Matric Programme by 27 February 2025.
The programme offers support to learners writing matric exams part-time. To register, applicants need only two documents: a copy of their identity document or passport, and their statement of matric results or matric certificate.
"The registration period for the Second Chance Matric Programme opened on 1 October 2024 and will close on 7 February 2025," the department confirmed.
"Learners who receive their matric results in January 2025 can register at the schools where they wrote their exams."
The department spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga said all subjects offered by the Department of Basic Education are available for registration.
He acknowledged that the announcement of matric results can be stressful for many learners and their families.
"We encourage parents to provide emotional support and guide learners on the available options if they did not achieve their desired results," the department said.
Parents and learners can seek further information from Education District Offices or local high schools. Career guidance and counselling services are also available through the Khetha Career Centre and the Department of Higher Education and Training.
